India has a robust plan for rolling out state-wise EV subsidies!

The news that the states all over the country are pushing the idea of going green by way of promoting electric vehicles is not some brand new development. Things have been happening every single day and concertedly so for the past few years.

Implicit in the pro-E vehicle policy of the government of India is the dispensation of subsidies to different states as an added impetus and boost to encourage increased usage of EVs.

And it’s only fair. When your organization wishes you to adapt to a new policy whose end benefit helps in the collective interest of the firm, then any positive step taken in that direction is rewarded by the HR- is it not?

This then is the question of a country. The matter that concerns the fate of the entirety of India; a country that is now uniting toward realizing the EV cause!

So whether you speak of the agricultural states like Punjab or Uttar Pradesh, a land drenched in piousness and spirituality, the central-most region in Madhya Pradesh or the state that’s the largest in the country (area wise) in the form of Rajasthan, there are subsidies being rolled out for EV adoption by respective state governments.

But first, up, why’s this plan even in place?

In layman’s speak, the idea is to address the four-letter word that has so often become the main hindrance toward the adoption of electric vehicles.

Hurdles toward EV adoption and FAME scheme

And that is COST. The cost of going electric tied with the lack of necessary infrastructure have often led to a resistance, still felt very much so, in different regions of India toward adopting to an all-encompassing EV future.

But where it stands at the moment, then much like the Central government that is offering sops under the national FAME-II scheme (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles), the state governments too have a plan.

Why the need?

Theirs is a criterion toward electric vehicle subsidies. This, in turn means, that the benefit of adopting to electric vehicles in some regions are much more than those existing in the others.

The end idea here being to bring the EVs closer to the end user and finding a means to stimulate the demand for the cars at a state level.

That being told, what’s important now is to note which Indian states are offering what subsidies toward the purchase of an electric vehicle.

Meanwhile, it’s important to not forget that the system of state-wise subsidies isn’t only extended to the four-wheelers, but importantly and justly to two-wheelers as well.

Watch this space for more as in the next article we shall bring you the entire state-wise chart of subsidies offered on EVs, all across India!

Delhi government to launch one of a kind EV charging guidebook

November 29. Mark the date. Remember the day. No hype. No drama. To put it simply, concerted effort. So what’s it about November 29 that one needs to know?

In the words of the government in Delhi, the state known most profusely for massive roads, scrumptious street food, biodiversity parks, and the famous Lutyens’ Delhi, will become the first state in the country to launch a guidebook.

This may sound an “Oh, so what’s the big deal about it” sort of news when in reality it is anything but.

This will be a guidebook to help promote a green cause; to push the idea of promoting workplace charging of electric vehicles.

Thus far, no state anywhere in the country has come out with a guidebook that can take into consideration the much-needed idea about charging Electric vehicles at one’s workplace.

But steadily- if not slowly- the tide is changing. And how?

For an idea that until say a decade ago, seemed a ‘concept’ most suited for a big talk in car showrooms, like a script unfurling in a mega-budget Hollywood movie, a product that would get zapped in fastidious government policies that take its own sweet course of time is finally here.

It is alive. Has a beating heart. And what’s more? It calls for open public participation in order to get the necessary change- that’s Electric vehicles- out there and rolling.

Having said that, watch this space for more updates on what actually transpired on the EV Charging Guidebook for Corporates and all that happened on its launch. The time to set the ball rolling toward a playfield that’s all about EVs is here and now!
