Whether it is the 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine or the Scandinavian design coupled with luxury, Skoda has always known a thing or two about how to sway Indian audiences.

It’s little wonder then why the likes of Rapid, Octavia, and Kodiaq did as well as they have.

But having said that, 2022 is a very different time from 2008-9, the period where Czech legends like the S80 or the XC90 were still establishing their presence and trying to gain a good foothold in the Indian market (albeit heavily dominated by the Audis and Mercedes’).

This is the all-electric age. An era where ride-sharing apps are making pure electric wagons, the likes of which, as talks suggest, are nothing like the market has seen.

So why, against that background, would a reputed brand like Skoda stay behind?

The company that garnered irrefutable recognition for making tanks has already alluded to an interesting idea given the nation’s growing EV ecosystem.

As per reports, the company founded in Mlada Boleslav has a brand new offering in the captivating EV space in the country: the Enyaq.

And although these are still very early days for the yet-to-be-launched product, Skoda has already captured news for what it is slated to offer.

So how’s that?

As a matter of factly, the test mule of the Skoda Enyaq iV is a product that claims to offer a range of 513 kilometers.

The car that’s still at some distance from being officially announced was recently seen running the roads of Pune, Maharashtra.

And a Twitter user clicked the pictures that are currently doing rounds on the Internet who goes by the name of M.B Rajpurohit.

There are talks- though none officially claimed or verified by Skoda- that their EV offers the “Lounge” variant.

Though, what’s been established is that the car boasts of a 77 kWh battery pack. Moreover, the ‘claimed’ range is somewhere along the likes of what’s currently on offer by Kia EV6 and BMW i4.

The following is what a noted publication motorbeam.com had to say about the soon-to-be-launched Skoda offering:

The battery pack supplies to 2 motors each powering an axle on a 4-wheel drive system. Their combined output is 265 HP, slightly lesser than the i4 and EV6. The motors propel the car from 0-100 km/hr in 6.9 seconds.

What is known about Skoda is that the Czech carmaker is currently, much like its popular offering in the sedan space, on a ‘rapid’ network expansion mode.

Should the EV be launched without much delay and at a price segment that can capture audiences into the EV revolution instead of swaying them away, maybe the European carmaker can hit the big time in a market already no stranger to electric cars?
